Mezzanine Flooring
Install a mezzanine floor in your Birmingham warehouse and you couldBut is mezzanine flooring a practical option for your business?
Birmingham mezzanines: What is a mezzanine floor?
Mezzanine floors are a sort of ‘floating’ or freestanding floor, constructed in steel. The only real restrictions on the size of the floor are the dimensions of the building and its height – you’ll need a total warehouse height of 5.5m and 2m minimum headroom clearance for any stairway to be able to install a mezzanine. Where you have lots of ‘airspace’ you could even install a multi-level mezzanine.
Why add a mezzanine to your Birmingham warehouse?
Because it could save you money, and give you loads of business flexibility. Without a mezzanine, your warehouse can only use the existing floorspace. If you need room to grow, an extension or a move could both be complicated and massively expensive.
Add a mezzanine floor, though, and you add lots of extra floor space for far less money and much less hassle.
What can I use my Birmingham mezzanine for?
Pretty much whatever you currently do on the warehouse floor, you can do on a mezzanine. We’ve installed mezzanine floors in Birmingham which are being used for:
- Additional storage space
- Increased production space
- Training rooms
- Extra office space
- Pallet gates to existing floors
- Additional staircases
How long does it take to install a mezzanine in Birmingham?
That depends on the size of the mezzanine, but we work fast and always keep disruption to a minimum so you can get on with the day job. We will need to cordon off the area in which your mezzanine will be installed and during installation this space will be out of action, but no other area of your warehouse should be affected. Talk to us about your timescales.
Will installing a mezzanine floor in my Birmingham warehouse change my business rates?
If you’re using your Birmingham mezzanine floor for storage or general warehousing, there should be no change to your existing business rates.
If you’re using it (or part of it) for offices, training suites or production areas, it may have an effect. Ask us about this.
Will installing a mezzanine in my Birmingham business increase the property’s value?
Yes, although precisely how much will depend on the specific scale and use of your mezzanine and local market conditions. Even if you rent your warehouse, it’s worth exploring how much a mezzanine could help you renegotiate your lease and even lower your rent.
