A word from our MD, Adam Ainsworth

‘Hello there,

If you have navigated to this page then I am not going to insult your intelligence by telling you what a Fulfilment or Distribution Centre is.

What I am going to tell you is a little bit about myself and our team.

When I started Rack-Master nearly 20 years ago, these were the kind of jobs I wanted us to be involved in, this was my background but it takes time to build a reputation and a team capable of delivering these kinds of projects, as obviously giving a new start up or a relatively new company a multi-million pound order is quite a hard sell – plus you don’t really have the resources to properly manage them!

So, we did the hard yards and bit by bit over the next decade, the jobs got bigger, the team expanded and for the last decade we have had the capacity, capability and tactical nous to deliver on these large scale schemes. We are now a major force when it comes to building Fulfilment & Distribution Centres – we are one of the largest independent suppliers in the sector. I can honestly say that I don’t think there is a Projects Team assembled in the UK Storage Solutions Sector as capable as the one I have put together, along with our Sales Director, David Wort.

A lot of companies in our trade say they can do these jobs, but they soon get found to be out of their depth. A large scale fit out project has so many different nuances and facets to it, that it is easy to get wrong. Potential headaches include getting the initial product / system selection right for the operation to start with, before things like site management & CDM compliance, buildings regulations and fire strategy come into play. We can help to guide you through them all.

We limit the number of these large scale projects that we take on simultaneously, to ensure that the key components can be managed in house. Too many of our competitors employ generic site managers that don’t really understand what we do. They might have every H&S Certificate going, but if they don’t have a background in storage and distribution builds, then they get things wrong.

Something else we always do, which I am starting to think is a bit of a rarity in the trade, is we always answer the phone or respond to emails. Even when there are issues, we tackle them head on and try and get out in front of them. There is no burying our heads in the sand. We are not naïve enough to think there will never be issues, but it is how you deal with them that matters and we have instilled in all of our staff, that communication is key no matter what and if there is an issue, we will not rest until it has been resolved!
