How shuttle racking works

The shuttle racking systems we install across Greater Manchester use a remote controlled shuttle cart or satellite to move pallets. Once the pallet is loaded onto the system by forklift, the shuttle takes over, ferrying the pallet to the next available storage space, storing it with millimetre precision to maximise rack space, and selecting and delivering it to the pick face when required.

Controlled by the forklift driver, our Manchester shuttle racking system offers a wide range of commands, giving you real control and flexibility over your Manchester warehouse pallet racking.

As the video below demonstrates, shuttle options include:

• Insert One: The shuttle takes a pallet from the loading point to the first available free space.
• Fetch One: The shuttle selects the first pallet it encounters from your Manchester pallet racking system and places it at the rack face for removal.
• Fetch Multiple: Set the shuttle to repeat the Fetch One command as many times as you specify.
• Pack To Begin: The shuttle reallocates all pallets to the load position/start of the rail.
• Pack To End: The shuttle reallocates all pallets to the unload position/end of the rail.
• Inventory: The shuttle counts the number of pallets on the rail and sends the result to the display on the remote controller.

Where can you install a shuttle racking system?

Rack-Master's shuttle racking system is robust, handling pallets of up to 1200kg. For optimum performance, however, your Manchester warehouse storage should meet the following requirements:

• The warehouse floor should be horizontal, flat, horizontal and free vibration caused by other machinery
• There should be sufficient load/unload space
• The Manchester pallet racking system should be permanently sheltered and enclosed by walls on all sides
• The system should be free from water, moisture, vapours and jets of hot gases
• The warehouse atmosphere should be free of fine powders
• Ambient temperature should be +5°C - +40°C; relative humidity is 50% - 90%
